Arsenal are weighing up a summer move for Max Meyer form the Bundesliga outfit Schalke, according to The Daily Star.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made the 22-year-old midfielder as his main summer target as the Frenchman looks to continue strengthening his squad at The Emirates.
The versatile attacker can play in a variety of positions also as a forward, and Wenger is said to be a keen admirer of the German playmaker.
However, the report adds that Gunners are likely to face tough competition from the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and AC Milan for Meyer’s services because he is going to out of contract at the end of the season.
Despite that, the report suggests that Wenger has been “trying hard” to convince Meyer to sign for the north Londoners and link up with the compatriot Mesut Ozil at The Emirates.
Meyer racked up 20 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke this season but has failed to score any goals.
