Tottenham contemplating move for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly outlined their intentions to move for Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Spurs are keeping tabs on the Brazilian’s situation at Camp Nou in case Harry Kane leaves the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The Lilywhites are looking at the 29-year-old playmaker as a potential option in the current transfer window amidst financial turmoil at Barcelona.

The report adds that Coutinho wants to restore his reputation in Catalonia after a difficult time since his big-money move from Liverpool.

Following a disappointing first season, the attacking midfielder was loaned to the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in order to ease his massive wages.

He failed to make an impact in the German top flight either, however, the attacker did manage to win the UEFA Champions League with the Bavarians, and he scored twice against Barca in that same competition.

The South American wants to feel like an “important figure” again but not necessarily at the Blaugrana if his future lies away from the Catalan giants.

Coutinho chipped in with two goals and two assists in 12 La Liga appearances last term.

The report goes on to claim that the North Londoners could be ready to give him the chance to establish himself as a top player in the Premier League.

Tottenham have Coutinho on their wishlist in the event that Kane departs the club ahead of next season.
