After spending the entire 14-year career with the Indianapolis Colts, Wayne was allowed to leave at the end of last season, racking up 1,070 career receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns
He has been available as a free agent since March, but the Patriots moved for the veteran wide receiver after Brandon Gibson, who picked up a torn ACL, sidelined him out for the 2015 campaign.
“He’s certainly had a great career and has done a lot of things for the Colt organisation, primarily playing on the left but then in more recent years being moved around to playing on the right and also in some slot situations,” head coach Bill Belichick told WEEI.
“I think he has a lot of versatility and obviously he has a lot of experience, so we’ll just have to see how it goes.”
Wayne and his teammates will visit Lucas Oil stadium (Week 6) for one of the most-anticipated game of the season when they face Indianapolis Colts.
