Tymal Mills signs new one-year contract at Sussex

The left-arm paceman Tymal Mills has signed a new one-year contract extension with Sussex, which will see him to remain at the club until the end of the 2017 season.

The 24-year-old, who earned his maiden England T20I cap, against Sri Lanka in July, will now remain at Hove until at least the end of next season.

Mills took 15 wickets at an average of 19.73 for the Sharks in this season’s T20 Blast.

He said: “The club have put a lot of time and effort into me, so I’m looking forward to repaying them by doing well in T20 next year. Hopefully we can build something special moving forward.

“Obviously, when I first signed, I was hoping to play in all three formats but that hasn’t worked out, so I’m only playing T20 now and focusing on that.

“It was a really proud moment to receive my first England cap and it was nice that the work and performances that I have put in for Sussex were recognised.”

Mills is restricted to playing T20 cricket due to his congenital back condition, but has been impressive in the shorter format for Sussex.
