England Test skipper Alastair Cook has committed his County Cricket future by signing a new two-year contract with Essex.
The left-handed opening batsman, who made his first-class debut for the Chelmsford outfit in 2003, has played 79 first-class matches and had a nice start to the 2016 season.

“I’ve been at Essex for all of my career since making my debut in 2003 and I hope to continue playing here for as long as possible,” the 31-year-old told the club website.
Cook has scored a total of 523 runs in Essex’s first four matches of the season, including three centuries and helping the club to 21 points clear at the top of Division Two.
