Tottenham Hotspur reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij next summer.
The 30-year-old defender is out of contract at San Siro at the end of the campaign and will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from the New Year onwards.
Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has unsurprisingly been tipped to reunite with De Vrij at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Spurs are anticipating competition for his signature.
Leicester City and Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in the Dutchman. However, Football Insider claims that Tottenham Hotspur are deemed favourites to sign the centre-back, and the Premier League club could even look to secure a deal during the mid-season transfer window.
The Italian giants were understood to have put a £40m price tag on the Netherlands international over the summer, but Spurs can now expect to be quoted a cut-price fee.
De Vrij joined Inter on a free transfer in the summer of 2018, and has since gone on to make 181 appearances for Nerazzurri across all tournaments.
