Barcelona are reportedly plotting a surprise move for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The La Liga champions have placed the 32-year-old versatile defender on a shortlist along with Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and Shakhtar Donetsk veteran Darijo Srna of potential candidates to replace Dani Alves, who left the Camp Nou over the summer.
Ivanovic has struggled to make into the first-team football at Stamford Bridge since Antonio Conte took charge at the west London club, starting just once in their last four outings.
The Spanish giants are expected to make a move for Valencia defender Joao Cancelo in the summer as a permanent to fill the void right-back option.
Meanwhile, the Serbian international has also been linked with a move to Premier League outfit West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.
Ivanovic’s current contract is valid until at the end of the season, that means he will not ask a high fee if Barca follow up on their interest.
