Champions League 2016: Can Atletico beat Real Madrid?

For many, Real Madrid could be favourite to win the Champions League 2016 finals. Almost, every major online bookmaker firms favour Real to claim the title, not to mention the average man on the street.

Of course, it looks pretty obvious – just because of star players they have including – Cristiano, Rodriguez and Bale, with such an impressive style of play this term.

There is no doubt that Atletico are on a top-notch side, but – the 10-time European champions should not be overlooked for the nail-biting match later this month.

Venue: San Siro, Milan

Real manager Zinedine Zidane knows how to win a game especially in the finals and if we look at their recent performance during a 1-0 aggregate win over Manchester City. Zidane looks pretty confident with his striking department, although the Frenchman knows how to secure the possession battle against the opponents.

We all know – Los Blancos are quite good in the middle of the pitch with the help of their star players such as Ramos, Isco and Kroos, who can change the game at any time on a positive note. Ramos can also play as a right-back, a position he primarily started earlier in his career, that unsettle opposing midfielders. Isco is good at retaining the possession. Kross is certainly quick with the ball, and most players are focused on their skills rather than cutting it down.

The dual strike force – Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are blessed with speed and is expected to give a severe headache to the opponent’s defence.

As mention before, Los Rojiblancos have been tipped as the underdog by most pundits around the world, that means Atletico have been into intense pressure to win this year Champions League title, far more so than the Real Madrid.

Madrid supporters are hopeful that Blancos will beat their La Liga rivals Atletico and can carve out their own opportunity just as they did against the Premier League outfit Manchester City in the semi-final.

However, Diego Simeone’s side are in the kind of form that they are able to destroy any defence, meaning defeat would be far from a surprise.

Compared to Real it could be said that Atletico have strong defence and speed, with the fast-moving talents of Antoine Griezmann and Koke, who can also potentially cause the trouble.
