Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers sign England star batsman Ian Bell

Perth Scorchers have completed the signing of England batsman Ian Bell for the forthcoming edition of Big Bash League.

The right-handed batsman becomes the Scorchers second international signing after their countryman David Willey who was with the western Australian side since last year.

Bell, 34, who has not played international Twenty20 match since 2014 – has scored 188 runs in eight T20Is at an average of 26.85.

“I’m delighted to be coming back to play in Perth for the Scorchers in this year’s Big Bash,” Bell said.

“I love the city having played there earlier in my career and to work with Justin Langer will be superb.

“The Scorchers have a fantastic record in the competition having made every finals series and winning two titles so I’m looking forward to hopefully helping them do that again this year.”

Bell’s arrival completes Perth’s squad for the sixth edition of BBL, with their first fixture gets underway on Friday 23 December against the Adelaide Strikers.
