Arsenal are on the verge of finalising a summer deal for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to the Daily Mail.
The Uruguay international, who started 36 of the Blucerchiati’s 38 Serie A appearances last term, scoring four goals and provided one assist in the process.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery, meanwhile, is eager to strengthen his squad ahead of next season and has identified Torreira as an ideal addition to the squad.
The report claims Sampdoria have reached a deal to sign Lovro Majer from Lokomotiv Zagreb, which leaves Torreira free to depart the Stadio Luigi Ferraris this summer.
The report adds that the 22-year-old defensive midfielder has a €25m release clause, which Gunners have no objection in triggering.
Meanwhile, Everton have also been credited with an interest in Torreira, who is currently on international duty with Uruguay’s squad for the World Cup to be played in Russia.
