Real Madrid have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski, according to the Spanish outlet AS as quoted by The Sun.
The Poland international has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu in recent months after the player criticised Bayern’s transfer policy, but a move to Los Blancos never materialised.
While the 29-year-old striker’s Bayern contact is valid until 2021, it is likely that the Polish attacker will force a move away from Allianz Arena at least by the end of the season.
There has been no official bid from the Europeans champions for Lewandowski’s services, but that could well change now that Madrid aware of the player’s future plans.
The La Liga champions are believed to be on the hunt for a new world-class striker, with Benzema’s performances have been disappointing in recent months.
It has been reported that Lewandowski wants to play for the Spanish giants, and appears to have a bitter relationship with the Bundesliga champions.
The Pole has established himself as one of the best strikers on the planet, he has been with the Bavarians since his free transfer switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, netting a remarkable 86 times in just 105 Bundesliga appearances.
