Arsenal weighing up move for Marco Palestra

Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra, with the Gunners reportedly sending scouts to watch the 20-year-old during his impressive loan spell at Cagliari, according to reliable Italian transfer insider Nicolo Schira.

Who Is Marco Palestra?

Palestra has been nothing short of sensational in Serie A this season. Currently on loan from Atalanta, the youngster has started 26 of Cagliari’s 27 league games — that’s not squad rotation, that’s a first-choice starter. His performances have been so eye-catching that Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly considering him for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland.

For a 20-year-old, that’s serious recognition.

Why Arsenal Are Interested

Mikel Arteta needs to solve his right-back problem. Ben White, contracted until 2028, has spent large chunks of recent seasons on the treatment table, allowing Jurrien Timber to cement himself as first choice. A White departure this summer looks increasingly likely.

Palestra ticks every box as a long-term solution — young, dynamic, and already thriving at senior level.

What’s the Price Tag?

Don’t expect this one to come cheap. Atalanta have slapped a £43 million valuation on the youngster, and with Davide Zappacosta approaching 34, the Italian club may ultimately sanction a sale if the right offer lands.
