Aston Villa boss Remi Garde is likely to lose his managerial job in the wake of their recent 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium.
Fernandez’s goal proceed the Villans to a sixth consecutive loss and a 21st of the season, leaving them 12 points behind from relegation with just seven games in hand.
Garde has failed to make an impact at the Villa Park since taking over from Tim Sherwood in November, claiming only three wins of his 23 games in charge.
Aston Villa have recently had an overhaul of their board for life in the Championship next season, and Garde held to be positive talks with new board member David Bernstein last week.
However, club’s chairman Steve Hollis has refused to offer Garde new terms over his future, while the Frenchman is also believed to be frustrated with the lack of cash available to him for the transfer window.
With the international break meaning that Garde will not be in action again until April 2.
