Awesome Skateboarding Styles You Should Try Out In 2022

Complex tricks like grab and air tricks, hospital flips, slide and grind tricks, and handstands have evolved from basic skateboarding styles. For a list of simpler yet awesome skateboarding styles, check out the guide below:

6 Skateboarding Styles for Beginners

If you are venturing into skateboarding for the first time, here are five skateboarding styles that will help you get your feet wet. To nail these styles down, we recommend supplementing the below information by watching a few skateboarding videos on the same.

  • Ollie

To do an Ollie, use your back foot to snap the tail of your skateboard off of the surface it is on, bringing its front wheels up into the air. The Ollie is the first trick you should try out because it is the foundation of almost every skateboarding trick and most ramp tricks.

  • Nollie

A Nollie uses the same concept as an Ollie; however, instead of snapping the tail of your skateboard to pop its front wheels, you use your front foot to pop the nose of your skateboard, bringing its back wheels up into the air.

  • Kickturn

To perform a kickturn, put some weight on the tail of your skateboard to lift the front heels up slightly, turning it in a new direction.

  • Powerslide

A powerslide is an easy way to turn and stop your skateboard. To do a powerslide, turn your skateboard sideways while it is still in motion so that the wheels can come to a halt.

  • Manual

A manual is like a wheelie but on a skateboard. A manual involves balancing on the tail end of your skateboard while the nose is raised into the air.

  • Kickflip

To do a kickflip, position your back foot in the middle of the tail and your front foot just behind the nose. Then, snap up as you would when performing an Ollie and kick your front foot diagonally toward your back foot. As your skateboard flips, catch it with your back foot first, then catch it with your front foot. If this sounds too complicated, we suggest watching a few skateboarding videos on the same.

Take Time and Learn

Before you achieve pro status, the above skateboarding styles will help you get in the game and become more comfortable while performing tricks.

Remember, if you are struggling to nail down a style, you can check out skateboarding videos that show you how to perform those styles.
