Barcelona reportedly still hold an interest in signing Matthias Ginter on a free transfer this summer.
The 27-year-old defender has made 170 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach since his move from Borussia Dortmund in July 2017, but the centre-back will be leaving the Bundesliga outfit at the end of June when his contract expires.
The Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be interested in the Germany international, who racked up 22 appearances in all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign.
There have been reports that Barca have cooled their interest in the centre-back, with Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta has emerged as a transfer target this summer.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana are still keen to bring Ginter to Camp Nou, a deal for the German defender looks like a very plausible option amid their financial problems.
Ginter started his professional career with Freiburg before joining Borussia Dortmund.
