Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Leeds United.
The 27-year-old attacker has failed to live up to expectations in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge to gain regular first-team football.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United have emerged as a potential destination for the England international as Marcelo Bielsa is hoping to strengthen his midfield options in the January transfer window.
The report continues, however, that the Elland Road outfit are not looking to splash the cash in the mid-season and are more likely to explore the loan market.
The Whites could face fierce competition from other English clubs including Burnley and Newcastle United, who are also keeping close tabs on Barkley’s situation.
Barkley has just over 18 months left to run on his contract.
