Manchester United Eye £120m Move for Nottingham Forest Star Elliot Anderson
Manchester United are reportedly setting their sights on Nottingham Forest sensation Elliot Anderson, with respected journalist Florian Plettenberg revealing that the Red Devils are “keen” on a deal for the 23-year-old midfielder.
A Promising Turnaround Under Ruben Amorim
After a disappointing Premier League campaign last season, United finally appear to be heading in the right direction under new boss Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese manager has instilled more structure and belief into the side, leaving them just a point adrift of the top four.

That said, consistency remains their Achilles’ heel. At Old Trafford, Amorim’s men have looked formidable—winning four of their five league games and conceding just six goals. Away from home, however, it’s been a different story, with only six points gained and twelve goals shipped in as many matches.
Anderson on United’s Radar
Having already reshaped the attack last summer, Amorim and his recruitment team are now prioritising a midfield revamp. According to Plettenberg, United have already made their interest in Anderson known to Nottingham Forest, though prising him away won’t come cheap. The Midlands club reportedly value their star at around £120 million, and with four years left on his current deal, Forest hold all the leverage.
Why Anderson Fits Amorim’s System
Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation relies heavily on dynamic, hard-working midfielders capable of covering ground and transitioning quickly. While Casemiro continues to feature regularly, the veteran’s legs are beginning to fade, and Kobbie Mainoo is still finding his rhythm. Manuel Ugarte, another summer signing, has yet to fully adapt to the demands of English football.
Anderson, meanwhile, has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League this season. Blessed with pace, technique, and tactical awareness, he looks tailor-made for Amorim’s energetic system. His performances have even earned him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, underlining his rapid rise.
Should Manchester United manage to strike a deal—whether in January or next summer—Anderson could well be the next cornerstone of their midfield rebuild and a long-term solution to Amorim’s tactical puzzle.
