Man Utd lining up move for Porto’s Diogo Costa

Manchester United are eyeing a summer shake-up between the sticks—and it could cost them up to £64 million. The Red Devils have reportedly set their sights on Porto’s highly-rated goalkeeper Diogo Costa as a potential replacement for Andre Onana, who has endured a turbulent debut season at Old Trafford.

United’s 2024 campaign has been far from smooth. With just 38 points from 33 Premier League games, Erik ten Hag’s side has struggled to find consistency, and much of the blame has fallen on Onana’s shoulders. A string of unforced errors has cast doubt over his long-term future, with reports suggesting he could be sold for around £20 million.

The 25-year-old Portuguese international is now firmly on United’s radar, and club scouts have been monitoring his performances closely. Known for his commanding presence and sharp reflexes, Costa is seen as a significant upgrade—but he won’t come cheap. Porto are holding out for his full £64 million release clause, especially with Manchester City preparing a £50m bid of their own.

As if battling their rivals on the pitch wasn’t enough, United must now go head-to-head with City in the transfer market. And with Altay Bayindir also keen to move on for more playing time, a goalkeeping revamp at Old Trafford seems increasingly likely.
