Man United preparing bid to secure Geovany Quenda
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Sporting CP’s teenage sensation Geovany Quenda, with a significant offer potentially in the works for next summer. According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils are prepared to bid €60 million plus bonuses, although Sporting may hold out for a fee closer to his €100 million release clause.
Quenda, 17, is an exciting wide player and has flourished under Ruben Amorim at Sporting. With Amorim now managing United, there’s speculation that the teenager is eager for a reunion. However, due to FIFA regulations, Quenda can only move once he turns 18 in April, making a summer transfer the likeliest scenario. Additionally, Amorim has pledged not to raid Sporting in the January window, ensuring any approach for Quenda or teammate Viktor Gyökeres is deferred.
Amorim’s tactical shifts at United—utilising a back three with wing-backs—highlight his need for players who can thrive in wide roles. While current options like Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui have performed admirably, their long-term suitability remains uncertain, which may elevate Quenda’s importance in Amorim’s plans.
With Arsenal and Liverpool also monitoring the Portuguese prodigy, United may need to act decisively to secure his signature next summer.
