Arsenal interested in signing Amadou Onana
Arsenal have reportedly entered discussions for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, aiming for a potential move in the current transfer window or the next.
The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their midfield, with Onana fitting the bill for their desired 6-8 hybrid role or as a standalone defensive midfielder.
However, Everton are reportedly seeking a substantial fee of £70-90 million for the 22-year-old Belgian. While the North Londoners are considering Onana, they also have alternative options on their shortlist, such as Joao Palhinha and Douglas Luiz.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed admiration for Onana’s talents, making the midfielder a prime target. Despite Everton’s financial challenges, they may resist letting go of Onana, especially with interest from Manchester United, who also see him as a long-term midfield option.
The Toffees’ financial struggles, evident in a ten-point deduction this season, may lead them to consider player sales for financial stability. However, the Gunners might have to delay their pursuit of Onana until the summer, with Everton potentially resisting any January move.
The situation remains fluid, and while the Gunners currently appears better-placed to secure Onana.
