Tottenham Hotspur keen on Gerard Deulofeu
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Udinese Calcio forward Gerard Deulofeu as a potential summer signing.
According to MondoUdinese, Spurs are interested in acquiring the 29-year-old striker as part of their team. He was close to joining the North Londoners during the winter transfer window but the deal fell apart at the last minute.
Tottenham had no trouble meeting Udinese’s demands, and with the summer transfer window approaching, they are expected to make another attempt to sign him.
Deulofeu initially joined Udinese on loan from Watford in October 2020, and his impressive performances led to a permanent deal. Since his arrival, the striker has been a crucial player for the Italian club, but has been plagued by injuries recently.
The Spaniard has made 18 appearances for Udinese this season, contributing 10 goals despite being hampered by injuries. He is expected to recover fully before the end of the ongoing campaign.
His contract with the Serie A club runs until the summer of 2024, but Udinese may look to sell him in the upcoming transfer window to avoid losing him for free next year.
Spurs have been monitoring Deulofeu’s situation for some time. However, their pursuit may depend on the player’s fitness levels and whether he can hit the ground immediately.
