The Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have reportedly included Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof in their list of potential defensive acquisitions.
The Swedish international finds himself behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order at Old Trafford, resulting limited playing time in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils hold an option to extend Lindelof’s stay for an additional year. Despite this, speculation of a summer departure has arisen due to his limited appearances last season – he started 14 Premier League appearances, mostly during Martinez and Varane’s injury absences.
RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins suggests that Rennes are eyeing Lindelof as a potential replacement for Arthur Theate, who could leave the club. However, Lindelof reportedly feels content in Manchester, and reports from Fabrizio Romano indicate that manager Erik ten Hag sees him as an essential part of his plans.
Lindelof joined Man United in 2017 and has registered three goals and six assists in 232 appearances for the club.
