Manchester United have reportedly entered pole position in the race to complete a deal for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati during this summer’s transfer window.
The 20-year-old has been strongly rumoured to leave Camp Nou due to his difficulty in securing regular playing time during the 2022-23 season.
Despite featuring in 38 games for the Catalan giants this season, the youngster has only managed to score six goals and provide three assists.
Moreover, Barca head coach Xavi has often preferred other options in the final third of the field. Although Fati still has four years left on his contract with the Blaugrana, with the option of an additional two years, there have been claims that he might leave Camp Nou this summer.
The Spain international made his debut for Barca in 2019 and has already featured in 96 games for the La Liga giants, scoring 25 goals and providing nine assists.
Manchester United are expected to spend heavily on a new centre-forward, with Harry Kane seen as their primary target. They may also sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley, while Anthony Martial’s ongoing fitness issues could lead to his sale.
