Chelsea FC are reportedly gearing up to wave goodbye to one of their defensive linchpins Kalidou Koulibaly, as Italian powerhouse Juventus continues to circle around the seasoned Senegalese player.
The 31-year-ld arrived at Stamford Bridge just last summer from Napoli with great expectations. Nevertheless, the centre-back has struggled to adjust to the pace and intensity of the Premier League, turning in a rather uneven and unconvincing string of performances.
The disappointment has not gone unnoticed, with the Chelsea supporters growing increasingly frustrated with Koulibaly’s erratic displays.
As a result, the club’s top management has reportedly decided to part ways with the defender in the summer transfer window. The looming question now is where the imposing centre-back will land next.
Juventus, a club with a long-standing admiration for the accomplished Koulibaly. The Italian giants are said to be still keeping a close eye on him.
Chelsea initially splashed out £35m to secure Koulibaly’s services, and it remains to be seen whether the Turin giants will be willing to match that valuation for a player who has struggled to find his place in the Premier League this season.
A loan deal with an option to buy could be on the cards.
