The transfer rumour mill is heating up once again, and this time Aston Villa making waves. According to reports, the club are keen on securing the signature of Villarreal defender Pau Torres ahead of the upcoming season.
While this is exciting news for Villa fans, the La Liga giants are not giving up their talented centre-back without a fight, as they are reportedly in talks to extend his contract.
The 26-year-old is no stranger to Villa boss Unai Emery, having previously played under the Spanish tactician at Estadio de la Ceramica. Despite being courted by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur last summer, Torres opted to remain with his current club. His decision proved to be wise, as he has enjoyed a standout season, featuring in 26 of Villarreal’s 29 La Liga matches so far.

Reports suggest that Emery is eager to reunite with Torres, and has made him his top transfer target for the summer. However, Villa may face fierce competition from other Premier League clubs vying for the defender’s services. As for the Yellow Submarine, they are working hard to keep Torres at the club, but their efforts may not be enough to keep the talented centre-back from leaving.
All eyes will be on Villa Park in the coming months, as the club looks to strengthen its ranks ahead of the new season. Will the Spaniard be the missing piece of the puzzle for the Villains? Only time will tell.
