Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma, according to reports.
Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is still in the market for further additions to his squad and Zaniolo has emerged as a leading target, TeamTalk reports.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is also being tracked by Juventus but the Italian journalist Daniele Miceli as saying that Tottenham are the only suitor able to meet Roma’s €50m asking price.
Jose Mourinho wants Zaniolo to remain in Rome but the winger has just two years remaining on his contract and extension discussions have been put-off until after the summer transfer window shuts down.
The north Londoners now appear to be in pole position due to their financial strength, and they could land the Italian winger in a cut-price deal.
