Liverpool have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Barcelona starlet Gavi with a contract offer of €4m per year.
The 17-year-old midfielder has enjoyed his breakthrough season during the 2021-22 campaign but now has less than 18 months left on his contract at Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants are desperate to tie the teenager down to fresh terms, but their financial problems could make it difficult for the club to keep hold of the starlet for the long term.
According to El Nacional, the Blaugrana can offer Gavi an increment in salary, but the Premier League giants have upped their bid to a weekly wage of approximately £65,000 and a fee of £8.4m.
The report adds that the Reds are more than happy to fork out £43m to trigger the Spaniard’s release clause.
Gavi has scored two goals and registered three assists in 26 appearances for Barca this season.
