Inter Miami are reportedly keen to edge out other clubs in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi next year.
The Argentine superstar has contributed 11 goals and 13 assists from 16 starts in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, keeping the club as one of the favourites to win the league title during the second half of the campaign.
However, Messi’s future is now being called into question, with the 35-year-old allowed to hold formal discussions with foreign clubs from the New Year.
It has been reported that the former Barcelona star has no intention of entering discussions with PSG until after the World Cup, which starts in Qatar on November 20.
The Athletic states that Inter Miami are becoming increasingly confident of winning the race for Messi’s signature.
While the veteran striker has been linked with a move to the MLS, there has been the suggestion that he may look to extend his contract in Europe if possible.
