Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reached out to FC Porto to wrap up a deal to sign 20-year-old defender Eder Militao, according to Brazilian media outlet UOL Sporte, as quoted by the Daily Star.
The Portuguese boss has become personally involved in trying to sign a new centre-back for the club next month as he looks to bolster his injury ravaged United defence.
The report adds that the youngster has a contract release clause in the region of €50m, which is a figure that the Red Devils will have to match to secure his signature.
The North-West giants had scouts present at Porto’s 4-1 win against Portimonense at the weekend ahead of a potential swoop in the mid-season transfer window.
United could face competition from Chelsea and Everton for the FC Porto defender ahead of the January transfer window.
