Everton eye summer swoop for Espanyol skipper David Lopez
Everton have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Espanyol skipper David Lopez in this summer’s transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Toffees are yet to sign any new players to Goodison Park this summer, but the Merseyside outfit will bolster their squad before the transfer window shuts down next month.
Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in signing the Spaniard, with the Magpies have quoted £35m when they approached Espanyol in early 2018.
However, Everton now appear to be in the leading position for the centre-back’s signature, despite the fact that Real Betis and Valencia both want to keep him in La Liga.
Lopez is contracted to the Spanish outfit until the end of the 2020 campaign and has impressed with the Catalans last season – racked up 43 appearances in all competitions.
