The Italian champions Juventus have announced that they launched a formal bid for Liverpool star Emre Can in the summer transfer window.
The Merseyside giants turned down Juventus’ offer for the 23-year-old midfielder, who will be out of contract at the end of the season.
The Serie A giants’ chief executive Beppe Marotta has revealed that a bid for the Germany international was rejected by the Reds.
He also confirmed that he was hopeful about the prospect of signing the playmaker to Turin in the new year. However, should he reignite the move.
Moratta told Sport Mediaset: “As for Emre Can I don’t think Liverpool will sell him in January. We made an offer for him in the summer but the Reds didn’t sell him so I don’t think they’ll change their mind in the middle of the season.”
Emre Can joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 and has since gone on to make 138 appearances for the Premier League outfit.
