Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has signed a new one-year contract extension with the French champions, that will keep him at the Parc des Princes until June 30, 2017.

The 33-year-old Italian had been heavily linked with a return to Spanish club Atletico Madrid after failing to agree a new deal with the Parisians, but contract talks have remain active throughout the summer.

Motta has helped PSG win three successive Ligue 1 titles since arriving the French capital from Inter Milan in 2012.
